Employee pay

Take-home salary

Estimate ordinary monthly pay for a confirmed eligible Malaysian citizen or permanent resident aged 18–54.

Enter ordinary taxable pay that is also EPF-contributable, including confirmed recurring taxable allowances. Other wage classifications need payroll review.

Confirm a supported employee category and ordinary wages without bonus before using this estimate. Other categories and bonus-inclusive periods require individual statutory review.

Assumptions

Confirmed Malaysian citizen or PR aged 18–54 in PERKESO First Category and eligible for EIS. Other ages, contribution histories and categories are not estimated. Ordinary wages only: bonuses and uncertain wage components need separate scheme-specific review. EPF Part A rates apply from October 2025; PERKESO Act 4 and Act 800 schedules are capped at RM6,000. If selected, voluntary LINDUNG 24 Jam uses the Phase 1 schedule effective from 1 June 2026, is capped at RM6,000, and is fully employee-funded. Local participation became voluntary from 8 July 2026. Benefits in kind and non-cash deductions are excluded. Reference estimates, not a complete payroll calculation; do not use these current schedules for historical or future wage periods without checking their effective dates.

Reviewed 23 September 2026

EPF follows the statutory wage bands (not a simple percentage below RM20,000). SOCSO, EIS, and optional LINDUNG 24 use their official assumed-wage bands.

Employment Act 1955

Annual leave entitlement

Check the statutory minimum for a private-sector employee in Peninsular Malaysia or Labuan.

Full service-year minimum8 days
Service tier
Under 2 years
Full-year statutory minimum
8 days

A fraction below half a day is disregarded; half a day or more becomes one day. This shows only the current termination-year accrual, not prior leave still due or total leave payable. Contractual leave can be more generous.

Eligibility and scope

The 8/12/16-day minimum applies to employees covered by the Employment Act in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan. Sabah and Sarawak have separate labour laws. Unauthorised absence over 10% of working days can affect entitlement. On termination, prior untaken leave and leave accrued this year require separate review.

Reviewed 23 September 2026

Section 60E sets 8 days below two years, 12 days from two to under five years, and 16 days from five years onward.

Pay for extra work

Overtime and holiday pay

Estimate statutory additional pay for a monthly-rated employee.

Estimated additional payRM 37.50
Ordinary daily rate
RM 100.00
Hourly rate
RM 12.50
Base rest / holiday pay
RM 0.00
Overtime portion
RM 37.50

This is the additional statutory payment above ordinary monthly wages.

Formula used

Ordinary rate = monthly wages ÷ 26; hourly rate = ordinary rate ÷ normal daily hours. Normal-day overtime is 1.5× hourly, rest-day excess is 2×, and paid public-holiday excess is 3×. Public-holiday work includes two ordinary-rate days in addition to the holiday pay already contained in monthly wages.

Reviewed 23 September 2026

This estimate uses the First Schedule RM4,000 threshold and manual-work exceptions reviewed on 23 September 2026; verify current eligibility.

Employer hiring cost

See the recurring statutory cost and a separate first-month hiring estimate.

Enter valid amounts and confirm a supported employee category and ordinary, bonus-free wage scope to view a statutory estimate.

Assumptions

Confirmed Malaysian citizen or permanent resident aged 18–54 in PERKESO First Category and eligible for EIS. Other ages, categories and bonus-inclusive periods require separate review. Only basic salary and confirmed contributable fixed allowances are automatically included in the separately shown EPF, SOCSO and EIS bases. HRD Corp covers only eligible Malaysian-citizen employees of registered and liable employers. Confirmed ordinary travel allowances are counted in cash cost but excluded from those bases; unclassified components require individual review. The estimate excludes medical insurance, equipment, work permits, leave replacement, foreign-worker schemes, and the employee-funded optional LINDUNG 24 Jam amount. Employers remit that optional deduction on behalf of participating employees, but it does not increase the employer-cost total shown here.
